Review: As Long as You Love Me by Anne Aguirre

Hey Guys! I know its been a little while since I last blogged. Been trying to get a few things together, and figure out this whole life thing. But now I am back and should have a nice steady run of posts for ya'll. Today I bring you one of my most recently read books, and its another one that pulls at the feels. As promised I bring you book 2 of Ann Aguirre's, 2B Trilogy- As Long As You Love Me. Here is a little about the book and the author.

Book Two of the 2B trilogy
Publisher: Harlequin HQN
Publication Date: September 30, 2014
Source: eARC from NetGalley

Most people dream about getting out of Sharon, Nebraska, but after three years away, Lauren Barrett is coming home. There are the justifications she gives to everyone else—missing her family, losing her college scholarship. And then there’s the reason Lauren can’t admit to anyone: Rob Conrad, her best friend’s older brother.

Football prowess and jaw-dropping good looks made Rob a star in high school. Out in the real world, his job, and his relationships are going nowhere. He can’t pinpoint exactly what’s missing until Lauren comes back to town, bringing old feelings and new dreams with her. But he’s the guy that women love and leave—not the one who makes them think of forever.
Though she’s terrified of opening up, Lauren’s ready to take that chance. Because the only thing more important than figuring out where you truly belong is finding the person you were meant to be with.

Ann Aguirre is a New York Times & USA Today bestselling author with a degree in English Literature; before she began writing full time, she was a clown, a clerk, a voice actress, and a savior of stray kittens, not necessarily in that order. She grew up in a yellow house across from a cornfield, but now she lives in sunny Mexico with her husband, children, and various pets. She likes all kinds of books, emo music, action movies and Doctor Who. She writes all kind of fiction in multiple genres, both YA and for adults.

*******************************************************************************

My Thoughts:

So After I read the first book in the 2B Trilogy I Want It That Way, and loving it. I knew I had to read the sequel As Long As You Love Me ( an author after my own heart, two books with BSB song titles), and was not very happy that I had to wait for it...haha. Especially when I found out that it was going to be Lauren and Rob's story. There was so much mystery to them that I had to know more.

So  when I got the opportunity to request it on NETGALLEY, I literally jumped with excitement!

This book starts pretty much where the first book left off, except it picks up after Lauren has left school and is back home. Lauren is definitely not the girl that we all though she was back in Michigan. That eccentric, outgoing, and party loving girl has some secrets of her own.  Those reason are all tied to why she came home.

I have to admit at first I thought that it was going to be all about Rob. And once her and Rob started hanging out together I was like YES! I got this story all figured out. But Lauren did not just come home because of her crush on her Rob Conrad ( a.k.a Nadia/ her best friends brother.) Well it wan't the only reason...haha.

I absolutely loved this book, everything about it. I loved how most if not all the characters in this story had some sort of flaw and grew throughout the story. If you have read any of my other reviews, growth is a huge thing to me. If there is not a progression of the character, then to me it means nothing. I love more than anything being able to look back to the beginning of the book and see how much they changed and evolved by the end.

And this book was no exception. When you first meet Rob and Lauren their flaws are practically laying on their shoulders! Rob with his insecurities, never feeling good enough. Then there was Lauren with her anxiety issues and her hidden crush on all things Rob. They balance each other completely. The way they treat each other they are a perfect fit. They were able to push each other to be the best version of themselves. Working through all their issues together. Their relationship is one that is real and believable. It had a natural progression to it. It was not like some books where the main couple is just thrown together for whatever the reason. No, Ann took her time creating a beautiful relationship between these two characters. It was a joy to read and watch happen throughout the book.

Not only do the main characters have issues but so do the supporting characters as well. I know, Im a sucker for all things broken, and angst. In addition to Rob and Lauren, You have Avery, which her issue are revealed throughout the book. But boy did that girl not have an easy life. Next, you have Krista, who is back home as well. Only she is pregnant and she has a boyfriend in the service. He is actually a really sweet guy, and they are very much in love. Its just hard for Krista not having him around.  But, Im sure you can only imagine being in a small town what people were saying. These three ladies created quite the scandal.

Lauren even makes a joke to Rob about how everyone thinks that she's pregnant because she is no longer in school and back home.

Ann Aguirre has a way with weaving a story tomorrow that just pulls at your heart strings. You feel for every character and can not stop routing for them to succeed. Striving for that happily ever after that they deserve.  I loved the story line, the characters, the way it was written, I seriously have no complaints about this book. Reading this made me want a relationship like Rob's and Lauren's.

I give this book a 5 out 5!

So when she sets out on a solo road trip to visit her family in New Orleans, she’s beyond annoyed that the infuriatingly sexy Jack Oliver wants to hitch a ride with her. She’s ridiculously bad at doing dishes and claims to be allergic to laundry. Her obsessions include: superheroes, coffee, sleeping-in, and crazy socks. and now for the moment that you were all waiting for.....

EXCERPT:

Padding my bare feet back into Jack’s bedroom, I start riffling through his drawers like a wet raccoon, searching for something that can pass as pajamas. I try on four pairs of basketball shorts and two shirts before finding items small enough to fit me without being obscene.

I’m not a small person—not at all. I’m average height, average weight. It’s just that Jack’s a giant who, apparently, wears size 100 in everything. Twisting the shirt around my middle so it hangs properly, I absently inhale and smile when I catch Jack’s scent.

What? No. Don’t smile about that, you idiot.
I unclench my fists from his shirt and smooth out the wrinkles I created clutching it to my nose. I’m not like a wet raccoon at all. I’m worse. Raccoons would be ashamed of me. My inner dialogue—I’ve just accepted that I’m certifiable, at this point—comes to a halt when I hear an engine in the front yard. Jack.

My first instinct is to run outside and smack him—you know, violent tendencies and all—but I regain my composure and choose a more mature tactic. I stand perfectly still in the dark living room and wait for him with a scowl. Through the window, I watch his dark figure stumble out of the car and slowly climb the front steps all hunched over. What did he do, go get drunk? Great.

I cross my arms, scowl still poised to kill, and wait as he opens the door and quietly steps inside. He flicks on the living room light and I ready myself for the shit storm I’m about to rain all over his ass. But my words, my anger, my bitter intentions fall away the instant I see his face. “Jack.” It’s more of a gasp than a word as it leaves my mouth.

He pulls his eyes up from his bloody and torn hand, and sets them on me. “Jenna. What the hell?” Several emotions cross his eyes. Anger. Fear. Relief. Anger. I pull a face. “Don’t ‘what the hell’ me. You’re the one who stole my car and drove off into the night.” He screws his face up. “So you waited up to yell at me?”

“Well…” I pause. Is that why I waited up? Well, crap. “Yeah,” I finally say, not particularly proud of my answer.
“Typical,” he mutters. “Listen. I’m not in the mood to bicker with you right now so if you don’t mind rescheduling this bitch-out for tomorrow, that would be great.” He brushes past me, his shoulder lightly sweeping mine, and halts at the touch. Facing me, he softens his husky voice. “I’m sorry.”

Long eyelashes lower over his storm-gray eyes as he searches my face, and the wicked wildfire inside me instantly reignites as his gaze drops to my mouth. The thick frustration that filled the room just moments ago thins into a sweet trepidation, curling around us with a daring charge. So delicious. But so dangerous.
I carefully step back and clear my throat. Jack does the same. We’re masters of avoidance.
Without another word, he moves past me and marches down the hall. That’s when I spy the blood running down the back of his shirt from a large gash between his shoulder blades.
My heart stops.

“Jack?” I say, staring with wide eyes. “What happened to your back?”
He looks over his shoulder and frowns. “Oh. That.” Turning back around, he continues striding down the hallway. “Knife wound.”

I Want It That Way by Anne Aguirre Review

Hey guys!  Let me start off by saying that this book created so many feels! And I am so happy to be sharing it with you all today! Ever since I got my ARC, I've been waiting and waiting to write this review!  August 26th could not come fast enough!

First let's get you familiar with the book, with it'd description.

Nadia Conrad has big dreams, and she's determined to make them come true. But between maintaining her college scholarship and working at the local day care to support herself, dating's the last thing on her mind. Then she moves into a new apartment and meets the taciturn yet irresistible guy in 1B….

Daniel Tyler has grown up too fast. Becoming a single dad at twenty turned his life upside down—and brought him heartache he can't risk again. Now, as he raises his four-year-old son while balancing a full-time construction management job and night classes, the last thing he wants is noisy students living in the apartment upstairs. But one night, Nadia's and Ty's paths cross, and soon they can't stay away from each other.

The timing is all wrong—but love happens when it happens. And you can't know what you truly need until you stand to lose it.

And now without further adieu....

MY REVIEW

■■■■□
4 out 5

Ok so we start out meeting this girl Nadia and she is moving into a new apartment when she meets Sexy McSexpants Ty! Although he isn't acting so sexy. But we shall get to the reason why in a few minutes..haha.

Her and her friend are trying to get a couch up the stairs and isn't until the couch falls down the stairs and Nadia splits the back of her pants that Ty decides to help them out.

At first I thought he was kind of a jerk. I mean who wouldn't offer to help new neighbors move in?! But soon after that Ty and Nadia begin this wierd relationship.  They have these sort of secret meeting out on their balconies. With Nadia on the floor above they kind of just chat about life in a way. If that make sense. Ty is a very hot and cold kind of guy towards Nadia. Wanting to have their late night balcony chats, then when they see each other in other situations he acts they they have never spoken. She gets a little miffed and then during one of their chats he explains that even though he likes her, he has his son to think about ( yea i said it McSexpants has a kid). Who I loved! Sam was seriously the light of this story.  One of my favorite characters!

So as a typical man, he says that they can be "friends with benefits" because we all know how well that turns out. Someone always gets hurt. Well let's just say it's not just one in this story. And with these two characters have very strong personalities, neither just want to walk away from this "connection". Also Ty is a guy who has been hurt before and had had some baggage that he can not seem to go of. As we all know things never stay simple, and after a few things happen in the book things get confusing and without getting too spoilerish all I can say is READ THIS BOOK!

I liked that this story was simple and there were no huge twists and turns. It kept you wanting more and these characters really pulled you in. Ann's writing really gets you emotionally invested. Which is something I need personally to really get into a book. This book held all the good stuff; love, friendship, sadness, and family!

and keep an eye out for the other two books in the series coming out later this year!

Thanks for stopping by!

And make sure to follow Ann on

Till next timeh

But you can pre-order it NOW! Check out what its about and then fall in love with this gorgeous cover!

Now without further Adieu....

In this second book in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Carmack’s New Adult, Texas-set Rusk University series, which began with All Lined Up, a young woman discovers that you can’t only fight for what you believe in . . . sometimes you have to fight for what you love

Dylan fights for lost causes. Probably because she used to be one.
Environmental issues, civil rights, corrupt corporations, and politicians—you name it, she’s probably been involved in a protest. When her latest cause lands her in jail overnight, she meets Silas Moore. He’s in for a different kind of fighting. And though he’s arrogant and infuriating, she can’t help being fascinated with him. Yet another lost cause.

Football and trouble are the only things that have ever come naturally to Silas. And it’s trouble that lands him in a cell next to do-gooder Dylan. He’s met girls like her before—fixers, he calls them, desperate to heal the damage and make him into their ideal boyfriend. But he doesn’t think he’s broken, and he definitely doesn’t need a girlfriend trying to change him. Until, that is, his anger issues and rash decisions threaten the only thing he really cares about, his spot on the Rusk University football team. Dylan might just be the perfect girl to help.

Because Silas Moore needs some fixing after all.

Review: Deeper by Robin York

In Robin York’s sizzling debut, a college student is attacked online and must restore her name—and stay clear of a guy who’s wrong for her, but feels so right.

Synopsis:

When Caroline Piasecki’s ex-boyfriend posts their sex pictures on the Internet, it destroys her reputation as a nice college girl. Suddenly her once-promising future doesn’t look so bright. Caroline tries to make the pictures disappear, hoping time will bury her shame. Then a guy she barely knows rises to her defense and punches her ex to the ground.

West Leavitt is the last person Caroline needs in her life. Everyone knows he’s shady. Still, Caroline is drawn to his confidence and swagger—even after promising her dad she’ll keep her distance. On late, sleepless nights, Caroline starts wandering into the bakery where West works.

They hang out, they talk, they listen. Though Caroline and West tell each other they’re “just friends,” their feelings intensify until it becomes impossible to pretend. The more complicated her relationship with West gets, the harder Caroline has to struggle to discover what she wants for herself—and the easier it becomes to find the courage she needs to fight back against the people who would judge her.

When all seems lost, sometimes the only place to go is deeper.

My Review:

First off I want to say, I am so glad that I won a Cora Carmack giveaway and was able to read this book. I absolutely fell in love with the characters. And I can not wait to read book 2, but we shall get into this later.

Every since I read this book I have been wanting to share it with you guys. Now that I have completed it, I was like I have to write a review!

The book starts out with being introduced to Caroline, your typical average girl next door. She has a boyfriend, or should I say had a boyfriend. And because she wants to be a lawyer doesn't really do anything risky to jeopardize her chances. Especially with her father being a judge.

But in the beginning of the novel Caroline finds herself in a situation that is completely new to her and one that she never thought she would fine herself in. All because of one night with her boyfriend. And I know what you are all thinking...she is NOT pregnant. It turns out that she had one risque night with her boyfriend, now ex-boyfriend. He thought that it would be cool to take pictures while doing some naughty things. She never thought that she would see them again, or that they would be leaked. Well guess what....she wakes up one morning to find out that all of those pictures have been released and all of her classmates have seen them. She is completely mortified and has no idea what to do. She cant go to her dad, because that is completely crazy, so she develops a plan. And this is where West enters the picture.

by: Dirty Girl Romance

The boy who comes from a horrible backround, and just wants to make good so he can take care of his family. Mostly his little sister. So because Caroline and West are drawn to each other, even though they know they shouldnt be. They start hanging out at the bakery where West works at night. Eventually their "friendship" turns into something more than just friendship and when everything comes crashing down. Decisions need to be made and will Caroline and West be able to make it through.

I can not go more into detail without giving everything away, but you must read this book. The whole premise is about revenge porn, with a romantic undertone. What I really enjoyed about this book, was that it was not just about romance. It had substance behind it, something to be learned.

When you first are introduced to Caroline she is weak, shy, scared, quiet, and not able to stand up for herself. Seeing her evolve through out the book was truly rewarding. She becomes this strong woman who fights back against the people that have wronged her, and stands up for herself. She thinks its because of West, and maybe it is. But I think that she had it inside her all along to fight back, she just never realized it. West helps her see that.

Now Lets

Robin York grew up at a college, went to college, signed on for some more college, and then married a university professor. She still isn’t sure why it didn’t occur to her to write New Adult sooner. Writing as Ruthie Knox, she is a New York Times bestselling author of contemporary romance, including RITA finalists About Last Night and Room at the Inn.
