Bittersweet end to finals week

Hey guys,

Im back! I am so glad to be done with finals! Sadly the end of finals week is a little bittersweet for me. I just found out that I did not pass one of my nursing courses with a C. I unfortunately received a C- after taking the final with a 103 fever, granted I did dig my own grave. I should have just told the professor when I got there I that was in no shape to be taking a test. Now I am forced to repeat the course next fall. So this whole upcoming semester will be filled with taking Gen-ed courses. Which is all fine and dandy except for the fact that I am practically done all of them up to my bachelor's and they are beginning to wear thin.

Im sorry to be blurting this all out, but I am afraid to tell my friends at home. I think that they are going to be seriously disappointed in me. I feel like a complete and total failure. There is no way I can break this to my mom, she will go completely bonkers with worry and I cant do that to her.

Just when you think that life is finally going your way, it has to throw you a huge curve ball. Sometimes I wish the world and the universe could leave well enough alone, sadly for some reason it refuses to do so. Ugh I could just kick myself right in the butt! All of the hard work that I have done, right down the drain. Granted I should be thankful to the fact that I am not out of the nursing program I am sort of like taking a semester off. It just sucks because it sets me back almost a year. This means that next fall I am only taking the one nursing course, so its like Im starting at a freshman all over again. I am hoping that it does not feel that way once the semester starts.

Thanks to those of you who read this, I apologize for ranting like this right before Christmas. You guys are the absolute best! :) I hope that all of you have a wonderful Christmas/Holiday and a fantastic break from school.

J.O.Y

the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desire

J.O.Y, its amazing how one three letter word can really make a difference in someones life. This has been popping into my head a lot these days. I think that everyone needs to have a little joy in their lives. Especially now a days when all we hear about is how bad the economy is, the war in Iraq, people getting killed. Its horrible to listen to day in and day out.

This past week was my choir concert and my entire choir decided to brighten christmas for some kids that were not of the best situations and probably would not have a christmas. This broke all of our hearts. No child should go with being able to celebrate christmas or whatever their holiday celebration maybe.

Knowing that these children we going to have a christmas brought warmth and joy to my heart.

I encourage you all to go out and find some joy, whatever that maybe. Where it be taking a break from studying for finales and hanging out with friends, giving back to the community in someway. No matter what it is, find it and hold onto it. You are all wonderful people and deserve to have joy not just during the holiday season, but everyday of the year!

Sweet Potatoe Cassarole with Praline Topping

Hey guys, in the spirit of Thanksgiving I thought I would share one of my favorite things to eat. I look forward to it almost as much as the turkey and the stuffing....lol.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. I know that I did! :)

Preheat Oven to 350F

6-8 medium sweet potatoes
8oz crushed pineapple
salt
black pepper
1 egg

Prick potatoes and stick them in the microwave until firm to the touch but cooked. I would say You don't want them to get mushy. Then you take all ingredients listed above minus the pineapple and mash them all together with a potato masher in a bowl. Then once all is mixed together add in the pineapple.

Praline topping

1c flour
1c brown sugar
1/2c pecans
1 stick butter(melted)

Mix all ingredients to create crumble topping. Then once everything is mixed together place it on top of the sweet potato's. Bake for 30 minutes! :)

Clinical Day 1

Hey guys
This past Thursday the 1st of October, was my first clinical day at Holy Rediemer Hospital. We had to be there at 8 but usually clinical would start at 7.

Anyway, the girl I was driving with was really nice and lives on campus...lol. Which is good because as of right now I am without a car. That is a whole other blog. We got the hospital at about 10 to 8.

The hospital is so nice and clean. There are only single rooms. Which is a nice feature to have.

My clinical instructors name is Danielle Kohler. She graduated from Gwynedd 5 years ago. She is soo nice. My whole group thinks that she is amazing...lol. Most clinical instuctors we all heard were really mean, strict, and scary. Danielle or should I say Miss Kohler made us all feel that if we made a mistake or need help that we could, without being afraid of getting yelled at.She made us all feel very comfotable.

We filled out a ton of information once we got there. Gwynedd had a whole packet of info that we had to go through before we could do anything. Than once we were done that we went on a tour of the floor that we were going to be working on. I'm really excited but nervous at the same time. Next week we actually get real patients and I don't want to mess anything up. I don't know if I could live with myself if I critically hurt someone.

Once we were done the tour the day was over and it was time to leave. It was quite surprising with how fast the day went considering that we were just going through papers through most of the time at the hospital.

Wish me luck for next week and keep your fingers crossed..lol.

40 Days for Life

Heyy Ya'll,
I have found that I like addressing this as a diary/ journal. Makes me feel like I am talking to someone that I have know for years and we are old friends, silly I know but you all already know that...lol.

Recently, or should I say AGAIN( boy do I hate comcast/technology in general) have been set apart from the online community for about a week now and it has been killing me. Finally I am back online with some important information that I would like to share. Its called for 40 Days for Life. If any of you are not prolife I do not mean to offend, this is just something personally that I feel the need to blog about.

40 Days for Life is community-based campaign that draws attention to the evil of abortion through the use of a three-point program:

Prayer and fasting
Constant vigil
Community outreach

40 Days for Life takes a determined, peaceful approach to showing local communities the consequences of abortion in their own neighborhoods, for their own friends and families. It puts into action a desire to cooperate with God in the carrying out of His plan for the end of abortion in America.

The 40-day campaign tracks Biblical history, where God used 40-day periods to transform individuals, communities ... and the entire world. From Noah in the flood to Moses on the mountain to the disciples after Christ's resurrection, it is clear that God sees the transformative value of His people accepting and meeting a 40-day challenge.

The mission of the campaign is to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40 day campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful activism, with the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion in America.

This takes place from September 23- November 1st all over the United States. If you would like to get more involved clink the banner above for more information about whats going on in your area. Come on out and help us speak for those who can not speak for themselves.
Thank you for reading!

No respect for Kanye West!

The VMA's was on last night and something happened thatI felt the need to blog about. I'm not sure who all was watching it last night, but I'm sure sure its been seen on the news.

Last night Taylor Swift had won the first award of the night BEST FEMALE VIDEO. She was up on stage giving her speech and thanking everyone, when Kanye West decided to come up on the stage and interrupt her by saying
"Taylor I'm really happy for and I'll let you finish, but I just wanted to say that Beyonce made the best video ever!"
Beyonce had the look of absolute horror on her face and poor Taylor! She looked soo sad!

What right did he have to get up on stage and ruin her moment. Yes,Beyonce is an amazing artist but again she didn't win, no matter his opinion! Taylor didn't vote for herself to win the award, infact she was not even expecting to win. I'm glad that he got kicked out, that stunt made me lose all respect for him! You just don't do that to someone.

I found out later that Beyonce had won some award and she brought Taylor up on the stage and said "Have your moment!" I thought that was totally sweet of her, considering she was never in the wrong. I think that Kanye should write her a personal apology, apologizing for his behavior! That's the least he could do.

All I have left to say is Taylor you deserved that VMA and don't let what that jerk said get to you! :)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far!

Population 8

<-- Promotional card handed out before the show. Same with the other picture below(Do NOT OWN)

Sorry that this took so long to post. I have been super swamped this past week trying to get everything ready for school, so I hope that you all forgive me.

A couple of days ago I had the wonderful opportunity to head to the Big Apple and see a play, Population 8, written by SoGoP
ro's very own Nicholas Gray. Now I knew that this play would be wonderful and that Nick wouldn't let the audience down. Needless to say it was magnificent, touching, and hilarious! Well worth the wait after hearing about it for so long. The writing was pure genius.

The play was about the lives of the last 8 residents in the small town of Loki, North Dakota. It started off with two of the residents Man and Ugly going to change the population sign from 9 to 8 people left in Loki due to one of the residents going missing, Jacob. The Characters of the play are quite fascinating. There is Man who is currently dating Ugly and is completely in love with her, he is also the town doctor. I must admit I felt sorry for his character, it just seemed like he was Jacob's replacement to Ugly. She never thought of having a future with Man. Ugly is the former lover of Jacob, is very opinionated and will tell you exactly how she feels. Throughout the story you could tell that she was just using Man and that only saw what was between them as a fling. Although I thought that it was completely adorable how at the end Ugly finally accepts Man into her heart and they end up getting married and having a child. Sylvie, who is would say is the town elder, they show her talking to a man named Leo (who I believe is her dead husband). Then there is Ruth who is completely against anyone leaving Loki, which becomes a problem at some point in the play. Cree is married to Ruth and is the more laid back of the two, he is all for their children Frankie, Pepper, and McCoy leaving Loki and exploring the world. I would also say that he is more or so the voice of reason, the conscience of Loki. Frankie who has got to be my favorite character works at the local radio station and likes to read old letters. He is just full of energy and charisma, Not to mention has a little bit of a crush on Ugly. Pepper also works at the radio station singing, she wants to get out of Loki to become and actress and see the world. Jesse comes in later on in the play and he's Peppers boyfriend/husband/baby daddy buy the end of the play. Finally there is McCoy. McCoy had to have been the most emotional character of the play. He's deaf and at one point Cree talks to him about getting a cochlear implant so that he can finally hear, but later on in the play McCoy tells his father that he doesn't need an implant to hear. He hears everything in his own way. For instance he describes how Pepper's voice is like chrismas day, he called Ugly a silly word but I can't remember it. That had to have been one of my favorite parts. Its was moving and funny all at the same time.

There really isn't a bad thing that I could say about this play, maybe some unanswered questions. For instance What happened to everyone after they were all forced to leave by the government. Is Jacob really dead or is he alive somewhere in world. You never really find out, in the beginning of the story you think that he has just gone missing. Later on they all get a letter from some mental hospital
saying that he was there and alive. Then once Ugly and Man get to the hospital Jacob is no where to be found. I guess its one of those things that's left to the imagination. Ugly had said once that even though Jacob had been with her, he still felt alone. I'd like to hope that Jacob us alive somewhere and isn't lonely anymore. See I'm all for a close ended story. This story was left open for the world to make of what happened to the characters on our own. Which is good, its just that it dives me nuts not knowing...ya know. I like to know what happens to everyone once the story has played itself out. Still Loved the play none the less.

Some of my favorite moments of the play is where Frankie and Man go to the population sign to change it once again and they find a letter. Frankie goes absolutely ballistic and says "Please let me read the letter, letters are my life!" It was the funniest thing, because Frankie had fallen to his k
nees and was begging for Man to hand over the letter. Another moment was when Frankie and Ugly are alone and Ugly starts coming on to Frankie, she kisses him and Frankie goes "I am to aroused for this." That made me laugh so hard...haha. I encourage all to go and see this play. It is moving, hysterical, sad, suspenseful and mysterious. That seems like a pretty good combination to me! Go See Population 8 :)

Nick should be so proud of his work. I only wish that it was running longer than just in the fringe festival. The theatre that it was played in was so adorable. At first I pictured a Broadway stage, because I had never been to the SOHO Playhouse, in the end I was glad that they chose this place. I really enjoyed being so close to everyone, it felt that no matter where you sat you were right there wi
th the actors on stage. They couldn't have chosen a better venue than the SOHO Playhouse.

Congrats Nicholas Gray!
On a job well done!

Birthday and Wedding Filled Weekend!!!

Sorry for being so MIA this week, as school approaches I am getting busier and busier. My birthday was this past Wednesday, the 22nd.I am now a 21 yr old young adult now, well at least that's what my mom tells me...haha. Im really not all that sure, sometimes I feel I am no where near being an adult. I spent the day with the fam. It was really funny because early in the day my mom decides to take me, my friend Jess, and my out to lunch. Im like awesome mom can I get a drink and of course she's like sure that fine. So we get to the restaurant and guess what I forget...my id of course. So my mom ends up having to by me the drink and sneak me some sips. Now how funny is that. I could not stop cracking up...haha.

Then that night a few friend from school drove down and hung out that night, along with my friends from home. We all went to TGI Friday's because I love their birthday song, its the best one out there I swear.

Here it is

I dont know what Ive been told
Some one here is getting old
I dont know but its been said
Some one's face is turning red
Sound off HAPPY
Sound off BIRTHDAY
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!

It was so cute my friend Nick texted me the entire song. I was so surprised that he remembered the whole song...lol. Instead of getting me desert they bought me a shot of Tequila. My friend Mel gave me two wrapped boxes, one of them had 21 dollars in quarters and the bigger box had 10 small bottles of different types of alcohol. My friend Katie got me a cute little nurse decoration, a rita's gift card, and this creepy little doll named Charles, that has a really long story behind it. Someday I might tell you guys because its pretty funny. Lastly my friend Kryssy got me a gift card to Borders. :) I think I made out pretty well..haha.

Thursday I hung out with my friends Steph and Mel. We all just decided to hang out at Mel's house and watch movies. Mel also caught us up on True blood. I had not been up to date and she is completely obsessed with this show...haha. All in all the night was fun, I had not hung out with them for a little while. Catching up is always a good thing.

Friday I was headed to New York for my cousin Roberts wedding. It was completely wonderful. The brides dress was gorgeous..as always. She wore a simple white dress that came to a v in the front, which made the dress very elegant. Then down the back was a trail of buttons, when I saw that I though OMG how long did it take to do all of them, it must have taken at least an hour. The bridesmaids wore simple tea length turqouise type of dress that was strapless. Definitely a dress that you could reuse..haha.The Ceremony started at 3pm and of course we ended up getting to the church late, due to an accident that involved a car going up in flames. Although I assure you we did not find that out until we got back to the hotel before the recepton. It was on the news and I felt horrible for complaining in the backseat of my father's car because it was to hot. While I was complaining about being hot and in a dress someone could have neem dieing or seriously injured.

The reception was a lot of fun. I was able to sit at the adult table..haha. My cousins and I were like yea man we're moving up in the world. There was tons of dancing...the groomsman were insane. One of them loved doing the worm, which always made me laugh. I even danced with my Uncle Bobbie which was an experience...haha. But it was fun none the less. By the end of the night I was really glad that we came. It was nice seeing family that I had not seen in a while. My older brother even came, which almost never happens. Him and family occasions don't mix and by the end of the night they were glad they decided to join the festivites. His girlfriend Bridget is one dancing fool, she doesnt need a man she is a force all on her own when she dances...haha.

Thats all for now!

xo,
Kait

p.s. I will have some pics posted from my bday and the wedding up soon :)

Belated Sophia

I have been meaning to post a blog entry for Sophia Bush's birthday on July 8, but it just never happened. So here is a little summary describing our lovely Sophia.

She was born on July 8, 1982 in Los Angeles, California, but grew up in Pasadena, California. The daughter of Charles and Maureen Bush, Sophia is an only child. Sophia originally started acting at her high school, Westridge School for Girls. Theater was a requirement at her school. This was something she was originally irritated about, but she fell in love with being on the stage.

In 2002, Sophia got her start in acting with the role of Sally in “Van Wilder”. That same year, she also appeared in HBO’s “Point of Origin” and the independent feature “Learning Curves”. In 2003, she booked guest appearances on “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” (playing Fate Mackenzie) and “Nip/Tuck” (playing Ridley).

The following her guest appearances, she booked her breakout role playing the girl we all love and feisty cheerleader Brooke Davis, on “One Tree Hill”. Over the last six years while filming OTH she has taken part in productions such as Stay Alive(2006), John Tucker Must die(2006), The Hitcher(2007), along with her most recent productions Table for Three(2008) and The Narrows(2009).

Happy Birthday Sophia!

Hope your day was as bright and shiney as your smile!

Best Wishes!

Boston Final Part

Hello All :)

It has come to the end of my trip to Boston :(. I kind of wish that I was there still, because a few days ago we had a picture party for the choir. People had brought doubles of there pictures that they had taken and showed them to everyone, and my fear has come true. I earlier told you about how one of the directors Dave might be leaving the choir. Well, sadly it has come to the light and its true. He chose the picture party to tell everyone that he would be leaving, but it was not because he wanted to but because he was offered a wonderful job at Valley forge Christina Military Academy. We are all so happy for him and glad that he has found such a great opportunity, he will be sadly missed but his presence will not be lost. He has promised to come and visit along with attend our concerts that we have a Christmas and in the spring. :)

ok now onto Boston...Day 4

The last two days of the trip were very hectic. That Saturday morning we all actually got to sleep in a little bit but as soon as we got up we had to head to this place called Quincy Market. That was actually where the Cheers bar is, we at there that past Friday! It really is the cutest place. There are so many places to eat walk around, along with lost of street vendors. We all sang there and then we had free time afterward that was really nice. We walked around and I ended up spending $40 dollars on a piece of cloth that was absolutely the worst purchase I could have made in my life. It was one of those pieces of cloth that can do like a hundred different things and when its being shown to you it looks really cool and neat. Then you buy it and try to do it yourself and your like FML because it does not work the same way for you as it did for the vendor. I swear every time I think of that purchase or see that piece of cloth my blood pressure goes up..haha. Aside from that the day was great, weather was absolutely beautiful. I was able to get a few things for my family and some of my friends. I got my friend a stuffed Lobster and it was really funny because I had originally wanted to get him a t-shirt and asked him his size. His response was " not gonna tell you..lol. be creative i would b for you" I was not very happy with this response..lol. So I told him " you either tell me what your size is or your getting a lobster." His response to this was "ohhh i luv lobster" Lo and behold he had no idea that he was actually getting a stuffed animal and not a real lobster. He was very surprised when he saw what I had gotten him..haha.

Day 5

Now this day as fast paced as it was had to have been my favorite! On the last day of this trip we got to sing in the Old North Church, you know where the old "One by Land, Two by Sea" came from. This church is absolutely BeAutiful! Since it was a part of the freedom trail while we were waiting for the Sunday service to start we got to hear some backround information on the church. Its not like any church that I have seen, there aren't any pews like in a regular church but boxes with high walls and seats. Back in the olden days the preacher would stand high above the crowd and in order to sit in the church you had to buy your seat and the closer to the front you were the more money you had to pay. Once you bought your seat you could decorate it anyway you liked..they had an example of how one would be decorated for that time period but my feet were killing me so I just headed back to the bus. As wonderful and charming as this church was when you are wearing heals that you haven't broken in yet(bad idea) your feet will kill you because to get to the church you have to walk up this big hill. Its not that bad, could be worse but the shoes are what make the difference.

Then after the service we left and went to Newberry St, its supposed to be the 5th Ave of Boston. I thought that it was pretty neat, there were a ton and I mean a ton of shops. A lot of them were well known designers. Since the service at the church ran long, we didn't have a lot of time to explore. The only thing that was able to be done was get lunch, eat it, and then head back to the bus. I was pretty bummed about that but what can you do right? I'll go back there again on day.

I was pretty sad to have the trip end so soon. It felt that we had just gotten to Boston and here we were leaving. I am so thankful that I went on this trip. Especially now that we all know Dave is leaving. When he told us my heart almost broke. Don't get me wrong I am happy for him, but I feel that I am finally getting to know everyone and now here is goes leaving us. Life just isn't fair sometimes but I just have to remember its not like he's dieing. He's just moving on to bigger and better things. That its not the end its the beginning. :)

I hope that you enjoyed reading about my trip...I hope I didn't bore you to much :)

Much Love,
Kait

p.s. The rest of my pictures will be up on flickr. :)

Frisky Penquins and Evil Mosquitos

Remember when I told you how when I went to the Aquarium that we caught the penguins getting a little frisky well...I thought that I would post the video for you guys. Of course you dont have to watch it..haha. I wasn't even sure that you guys would even want to see it..but I was like what the hell..haha.

Now these have nothing to do with the frisky penguins, but I thought these pictures were funny. These are called King Penguins..I think..haha. But in the first picture it looks like the one penguin is worshiping this other penguin that is on top of this rock who is acting all high and mighty. Then in the next picture the penguin on the rock is like "Im king of the world!" haha.

Here is a video that I took for you guys as a little preview of the classical concert that we went to at Tanglewood. Now at the end you'll see the camera go a little crazy. Thats because there was this huge black mosquito decided to land right on top of my hand as I was recording. I had a very itchy bug bite the next day...was not fun..not fun at all.

By the way...I killed that mosquito dead!

Thats all for today/tonight folks..the rest of my trip will be up shortly. :)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Boston Part 2

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Independence Day =). I spent the day running errands with my mom. When we got home took a little nap, which was much enjoyable...then went to watch the fireworks with a couple of friend :)

Now on to my trip :)

The 2nd and 3rd days were way more interesting I promise you..ha ha. We did not spend over 6 hours on a bus, and let me tell you I have done long car rides before but for some reason it felt like we would never get there..lol.

Day
2

When
we got up that Thursday the 25th our first stop of the day was Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. We got a tour of the whole place which was really neat, and we learned a lot of little facts about the Sox as well. It was so funny, our entire group was sitting in the press box and our tour guide is trying to see if there are any Red Sox fans and this girl Darcy who I roomed with goes I LOVE the NY Yankee's and everyone knows that they have the biggest rivalry in baseball. It was so hilarious...our tour guide was like Darcy by the end of this tour you and I are going to be great friends...we all could not stop laughing. It was so amazing how much history made up that one stadium. Everyone wanted to go onto the field, but they were getting ready for some charity event so no one was allowed on the field :(. The best part of the tour though was when we got to stand on top of the Green Monster. The Green Monster is this huge wall the Mr. Yawkey who was the last owner of the Red Sox. He had the wall built " To keep the balls in and the freeloaders out." Words by Mr. Yawkey himself..lol.

Then it was off to the New England Aquarium. We were greeted by the penguins, and they are some friendly penguins at that. Our group was taking pictures of them and all of the sudden tw
o penguins start getting frisky with one another. Those penguins were the most talked about exhibit the entire time we were there...haha. This may be nasty, but i managed to get a video of the two penguins and my friend Jenn and I showed it to the assistant director of the choir Dave (he has a very dirty mind) and he started laughing hysterically. Then looking me straight in the eye he said " I never thought I would see that day that Kaitlan Heaton was more wrong then I am!" Omg it was hilarious. That was the most exciting that happened while we were there, on a side note I was able to get a picture of Nemo!! I was so happy, I thought that they weren't going to have him and then towards the end there he was...it took me forever to get a non blurry picture of him. I officially need a new camera(adding that to my bday list).

Then for Lunch we went to this place called Quincy Market and we ate at Cheers. Yes! I said Boston is not only the home of the Boston Red Sox, but also the filming of the wonderful show Cheers! Only a couple of us went there, but we all had a good time. Dave could not stop talking about the wonderful Boston beer that they served there, which apparently is only served in Boston and how Jenn wasn't drinking hers fast enough..haha.

Then we all went back to the hotel for about an hour to rest and get ready for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. The food there was AWESOME!! I encourage everyone to go there and try the macaroni and cheese w/ chicken. It is the BEST Mac n Cheese that I have ever tasted, besides my mom's of course. :) After we ate I went to the gift shop and got my mom and my dad t-shirts and my friend Jess a shot glass to add to her collection.

End of day 2

Day 3

This had to be the best day out of all the days that we were there...we went to Harvard! It was soo neat and the campus is absolutely gorgeous. Just after one glance I was completely hooked, I told the girls that I was with "I want to go to Harvard!" ha ha. The buildings and architecture is Beautiful, even thought they were built so long ago. I think that's what made the c
ampus so appealing you don't see buildings built like them anymore. Call me old fashioned, but I can't help myself! :) We walked in to the church and it was gorgeous, not like the church they have at Lehigh or Villanova University. You have to wait like 10 years to get on thier list. I could be wrong, don't quote me on it or anything. They have the biggest library that I have ever seen! We all wanted to go inside and check it out, but you needed a key card. I told all the girls that we should have waited and pretended that we forgot out key card. They weren't up for that..lol.

After touring the camp
us we walked around the square a little bit and looked at all of the cute shops. We walked in this one particular shop that was called Curious George and when you see a shop with that name you just have to go in. It was was filled with a lot of cool stuff. I ended up finding a book that my mom used to read me all the time before bed Good Night Moon. When I saw it I just had to get it, my mom laughed when I showed it to her and she was like "do you know how many copies of this I had to buy?" It was a nice trip down memory lane.

For lunch we all went to this Chinese restaurant and my friend Julie me up with us just as soon as we started putting in our order. I felt really bad because we were supposed to have a least an hour to hang out, but since our room that we were supposed to be practicing in before our concert the next day we had to leave early. Despite that I was glad she came to meet us anyway, even though she only had an hour. She even brought me a present, a t-shirt from her school Boston University.

Then for our final stop of the day we went to this place called Tanglewood. We saw a show done by the Emerson
Quartet. I am not one for classical music, but these guys were stupendous. I didn't fall asleep once, gotten eaten alive by mosquito's but sleep i did not. I was recording a little bit of the show to post for you guys and as I was recording this who hairy black mosquito landed straight on my hand and you can see at the end of the video the camera goes crazy because I just had to slap the bug. After that I felt itchy everyone that went was swatting at them. Since the whole back of the theatre was open all of the bugs flew in, the ushers were even spraying people with big spray it got so bad. I must admit though myself and the other girls were cracking up because all you would see was one of us suddenly swat at something or scream and you couldn't help but laugh...ha ha.

Part 3 coming up next!

I think I'll go to Boston!

I know that I have mentioned it to a couple of people, but this past week I found my self in a city known as Boston, MA. I went there on a school trip with my choir. I must admit I was a little worried about how it might go, considering I have not really done much with the choir. I have been kind of putting it on the back burner, even though I really love to sing. This week I found out that there are a bunch a great people that make up this choir, and I wish that I had put more effort into getting to know these people sooner. Especially because once of the assistant directors might be leaving this year :(. He has not said anything yet, so keep your fingers crossed!

ok back to the trip...lol.

We left my school at 7 am on June 24th, which left me leaving the house at 5am because we had to be at the school by 6:15am in order to pack the bus. Our First stop once we got to Boston was to the Salem Witch Museum. It was a really neat place. When we first walked entered they put on a show for us that went through the whole Salem witch trails and what happened to some of the people. That was such a sad time, so many innocent people died and no one really new the truth until years later.

Also while we were there we walked by this really cool looking house. I thought it was so pretty that I just had to take a picture of it! The architecture up there is absolutely gorgeous. Then right across from the museum was the statue of Rodger Conant, who was the first settler of Salem. How cool is that!!!

Afterward we went to the hotel and everyone got settled in. It was so nice to finally get off that bus! Then for the last stop of the day we went to dinner at a restaurant called Maggianos and let me tell you it was no ordinary dinner..haha. Our waiter kept flirting with all of the girls at the table, and because he had I believe a french accent...all the girls were swooning. For desert he brought is like 5 pieces of cheesecake, that were huge! All of the girls kept cracking up because there was so much extra food that we had a whole bag filled almost to the top. I mean it might not sound as funny just hearing it, you definitely had to be there and not to mention I am the worst story teller ever! haha. But let me tell you we were all in stitches by the end of the night from laughing so hard! We all got a picture with him before we left, I wonder where I could find it? Since my camera died as soon as we got to the restaurant.

That night when we all got back to the hotel and the girls and I all ended up playing a game of rummy, which let me tell you I am horrible at. But none the less it was still a lot of fun. This girl named Jenn beat us every time..haha. It was still fairly early when we all hit the sack, which was weird because you would think that from sitting and sleeping most of the day on a bus you wouldn't be tired. Let me be the first to tell you, you are dead wrong. It wears you out to the point of exhaustion. Usually I can not fall asleep as soon as I lay in bed, but I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow..lol.

Hope ya'll had a good week!! :)

Stay tuned for more!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HILARIE!!

In honor of one of SGP's creators Birthday, I though I would right a little information about her!

We all were introduced to Hilarie as one of the hottest VJ's on MTV. Then we all fell in love with her when she acquired the role of Peyton Sawyer, a fiercely independent artist on the hit show One Tree Hill. She has also done other projects such as Solstice, Secret Life of Bee's, and just recently finished filming Provinces of Night directed by Shane Dex Taylor.

Today you can find her roaming around her home in Wilmington,NC working with her best pals and business partners Nick Grey and Kelly Tenney. If it had not been for her and SGP so many friendships would have been lost. It is because of her creativity all with everyone else that has helped form SGP that so many memories and friendships have been formed.

So I would just like to take the opportunity to say Thank you for allowing us to be apart of this wonderful company!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HILARIE!
Hope that you had a wonderful day filled with laughter and joy!
Best wishes!

Its My Mama's BDAY!

Since today is my moma's birthday, I thought that I would say some nice things about her and share a memory or two.

When SGP asked us who our mentor/hero's were I automatically thought of my mom. I truly do not know what I would do without her. When ever I have a problem I can always go to her for advice, not to mention that she always knows exactly when to say to make me feel better. Even when I make her mad, I always know that she loves me and that she can't stay mad at me for long.
She is the smartest, kindest, honest, hardworking, and loving person that I know. She is always thinking about others and never about herself(maybe thats where I get it from..haha)

I remember when I was little my dad used to get up super early for work, and he would wake me up every once and awhile. When he did I would go downstairs and sit on the couch with her, because my mom was always up early and she would just comb through my hair with her fingers. It always put me back to sleep..lol. But I loved when it was just the two of us.

Im her honeygirl and she will always be my Moma.

I've been working on a picture montage for her, but wasn't able to get it finished in time. So as soon as I get that done I will definitely post it for ya'll to see.

Much love,
Kait

Busy Busy

So I feel like a horrible person, I haven't posted in a while. I know I know..I say this a lot, but I have hardly been on the computer I have been looking for scholarships for school. When im not doing that I am looking for jobs. Currently I have had no luck in that department, but I will prevail. My plan is to have a job by the time I get back from Boston, Ma.

Yes thats another thing that I have been planning. I do not know if I have mentioned it before, but I am going to be in Boston from the 24th-27th of June w/ my school choir. I am so excited my friend Julie goes to school at BU so I am hoping that we are going to be able to spend some time together. Although I must say I am quite nervous, I don't know many of the girls but hopefully the girls and I will all get along. At least the ones that I am rooming with, I am begining to rethink why I wanted to go on this trip in the first place. Ohh it will be a fun experience I told myself. You'll have a great time, you've never been to Boston. I only hope that it turns out that way and it does not turn out to be a total disaster.

When I get back I will post all of the pictures and tell you all about my trip. Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes well! :)

Much Love,

Graduation

Last night I was sitting a my friend Kim's graduation and it really got me to thinking as to how things have changed since I graduated. I was feeling very sad. Im coming up to my third year of college. These past 2 years have gone by so fast. and soon I am going to be out in the real world. Paying bills, looking for apartments, finding a job, etc.

I don't even know where to begin, there are just so many thing going around in my head that they probably wouldn't even make sense if I tried.

We are all growing up, and thats such a scary thing to me. I feel that I am losing a good friendship. She has gone away to school, and everyone in our group of friends can see that she has changed. Im afraid that she is going to make a new life up by her new school and not need us anymore. No one wants that to happen, but we don't know what do...we can't force her to come home if she really does not want to come home.

Not just that, but life scares me in general.

ok all better now...Besides making me sad, and possibly confused it also had me reminiscing about the past.

One of the memories that I thought of was, during my senior year my group of friends and I there was a trash can that we would always meet at between 9th and 10th period. Since I was the first to graduate, a year later we though about sneaking into the school one night and stealing it or all of us signing it somewhere.

or

During my freshman year we were all sitting at lunch and my friend Ashley had this salad container that had a button you would press that would release the salad dressing, the you would sake it up so everything would mix. Well on this one particular day I wanted to use the cool container, so she hands me the container and I am extremely hyper for some reason and as I am shaking I didn't realize that the lid was not on properly. The next thing I know I become a salad myself..haha. I have lettuce and salad dressing all over me.

Much love,
Kait

New Day

Heyy I was looking through old blogs, and found that this one had not been published. Well I could not just let it sit there, now could I? Of course not, so here it is...

When I heard this song, I completely fell in love with it. They lyrics are just beautiful. I heard it on the season 5 finale of The Hills, and thought I would share it with you all.

Enjoy!

Without the Internet for 2 days

YaY!! I am so glad to be online, for the past 2 days my internet has been down. This entire post was written last night when I was going out of my mind with boredom. Its amazing how clear your mind can get after writing all of your feelings down. I really need to do this more often..haha.

06/02/09

So I am sitting in my bed right now going insane! I know this may sound trivial but I have no and I repeat NO internet at all, and let me tell you that does not make me a very happy person! Its all because of these stupid cable boxes that everyone need to get in order to go DIGITAL. That is such a load of crap that I totally feel the cable companies are using just to get more money out of people. Sorry if I sound a bit cynical right now, I am going through serious withdrawal…lol. Thankfully a technician is coming out tomorrow between 11 and 1pm. That time can not come soon enough!

There is a silver lining to all of this, I used to make fan videos all of the time. I have made Brucas, Naley, Like(Lindsay and Luke), and of course Leyton. Which actually surprised me because I was not a big fan of them at all. Total Brucas fan all the way over here..lol. Now I still like them together, but I am beginning to like Brulian and Leyton. Anyway…got a little side tracked, lately I have had no inspiration to create any new videos, partially because youtube has gone completely psycho removing the music from everyone’s video’s. Well these past few days without the internet my inspiration has come back and I am working on a Leyton tribute video! I can not wait for you all to see it! J

I also wanted to let you all know about my job interview. I think that it went really well, I met with the manager Caroline. She was really nice, she seemed to be not to much older than me. We seemed to be getting a long quite well, which is always a good sign. She asked me all of the regular question. What type of experience did you have in your last job? What did you like most/least about your previous job? What do you know about theft prevention? At the end she gave me a slip of paper so I could go online and do a survey/questionnaire thing about my moods and behaviors. Some of those question were really bizarre and out there..lol. Now supposedly I have to wait for Caroline’s boss to review everything and then is she likes me I will get called in for a second interview.

Now I just have to say a few things about the way that Lucas and Peyton left OTH. I know that at the time of filming Mark did not know if Hilarie and Chad were coming back for season 7. I just wish that things would have been done differently. There should have been a scene with Lucas and Haley, I mean I was glad that Karen was there along with the scene with Whitey and Dan but it has been Luke and Haley since the beginning of the show. It just didn’t seem right that they didn’t have a final scene together. Even Brooke and Peyton had a scene at the end, it wasn’t long but they were able to have sometime together. Another thing was Nathan getting into the NBA , it would have been nice to see him sharing the news with his brother. Everything else was done beautifully! Even though I still have many unanswered questions, I am sure that they will all be answered when the show returns. Until then I can wait.

One last thing, I just got done watching Paris Hilton’s My New BFF. How silly is that show, no pun intended for those who like the show; but the girl has a ton of money. Why would she need to be on MTV, all I have to say is DESPERATE. Its not even on something important, like anything on MTV is but most shows are not dumb. For instance The Hills, The City, 16 and pregnant….all of those at least have substance and are enjoyable to watch. Lord help us first Paris, what’s going to be put on tv next?

Thank you all for reading my ramble. I’ll give you your eyes back now..lol.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day/night

Much love
Kait

Victory is mine!! hehe

As you all know I have been looking for a new job for quit sometime now. I mean my friend Sarah and I have filled out a total of 12 applications each. When we were done my brain was completely drained. I felt like I had just finished the SAT's all over again..haha

Well me and my persistant nature...I ended up walking into one of the stores I applied to Claires and the girl working said that her manager would be in Saturday morning at 1 and to call. So I called Saturday at around 2pm and the manager actually picked up the phone, so I was able to talk to her. Her name was Caroline and she pulled out my application while I was on the phone...long story short...I have and interview TOMORROW!! :)

I know I shouldn't get my hopes up because I might not get the job, but I can not help myself..lol. Its the only responce that I have had since filling out all of those application almost 2 weeks ago. So keep your fingers crossed!

Earl Grey Cupcakes with Lemon Buttercream

I know I have been completely neglecting this blog, but I was reading the blog that was created for Galeotti's, which is a restaurant that is being redone by Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley) and her family.

In on of her entries she made the delicious looking Earl Grey cupcakes, so I decided to make them and try out the recipe since I love baking new things. Not to mention that you can never go wrong with cupcakes..haha. They are some of the best cupcakes that I have ever tasted. Although instead of having a milk & honey frost I made a lemon butter cream instead.

So I thought that I would share the recipe with ya'll!

Earl Grey Cupcakes with Lemon Buttercream

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 egg
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp. Earl Grey tea (I used 1 bag and didn’t measure. I might add more next time.)

Preheat the oven to 350. Beat the butter and sugar together until it is light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, making sure they are thoroughly combined before adding the next one. Mix together the dry ingredients, including the tea. Beat in half of the dry mixture with the wet, then add the milk and the rest of the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Line the cupcake pan with 12 cups and fill them about two-thirds full. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Cool thoroughly before frosting.
Lemon Buttercream

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • zest of one lemon
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice

Cream butter, then add the icing sugar and beat until fluffy. Add the lemon zest, juice and beat until smooth. Spread over cooled cupcakes.

Hope you all go and make yourself some delicious cupcakes

Enjoy!!

Tis a sad sad day in the OTH World!

I am in complete and utter shock right now!! I just went on Onetreehillweb.net, and found out that it is in fact true that Hilarie as well as Chad are not returning to the show for its 7th season. They had an entire article that Hilarie did for Entertainment Weekly, which I get in the mail but anyway she talked about how horrible the rumors were and how she talked to many people before making her final decision.

You can read the whole article here
(There are spoilers in this article, so if you do not want to know I suggest waiting till after the season finale to read the article.)

It just makes me so sad!! I mean do not get me wrong I absolutely adore the other characters they each bring their own little thing to the group of the original five characters of the show. Without Lucas and Peyton that means that 2 of the original 5 are gone. I know stating the obvious here, and not to mentioned all of the unanswered questions that are going through my mind! What is going to happen to the show? What new characters are going to be replacing them? Will they ever come back to do guest appearences?

Lucas and Peyton brought so much to the show. Peyton had her art and her music. I can not say how many wonderful bands were intriduced to me because of the character Peyton Sawyer. The same goes for Lucas instead of music he had is literature. So many wonderful books have been brought to my attention over the last 6 years. Not to mention thier whole love story, now they are finally happy and we're not gonna get to see it! That makes me a little angry, granted I admit that I was not the bigggest Leyton fan but they have really grown on me. Its just not going to be the same with out seeing them every week. They can try to bring in new characters to replace them, but nothing or no one will be able to do that job.

I know that people have been talking about this for months now, but its one thing to hear people talk about it and a something completely different to see it with your own eyes. I guess I was hoping that what was being said was not true. So I guess you could say that I was in complete denial. Having said that I fully support both Chad and Hilarie in their decision to leave the show. Even though I may not like it, but only good things will come out of it, for instance now Hilarie will have more time to focus on SGP and other projects that she might also be working on. It was also really sweet of her to take the time to do an interview to dispelling all of the rumors that have been flying around the web. I wish them both the best of Luck in all of their future endeavors and can not wait to see what Mark Schwan comes up with next!

Much Love,
Kait

An Unforgetable Day!

Today was going on just like any normal day. I had been hanging around the house trying to unpack all of my things that I brought home from the dorm since summer break started. I know that I have mentioned this before, but I have been trying to get in to my College's nursing program for the past 2 years and have failed. I was beginning to think that it would never happen and started to give up. I even emailed my advisor saying that I didn't think that I got in and was interested in another major, because this was my second year being undeclared so I needed to declare a major.

I had plans to go and hang out with some of my friends at the local applebee's and for some reason before I left I got on the computer to look at something. I forget what it was at the time, but before I got off I was like why don't I check my school email account and see if I have any emails. Low and behold there was an email saying Admission to the School of Nursing. I sat there stunned for about 2 minutes before walking into my mother's room and saying "Mom I did it, I made it into the nursing program!" I was to excited to cry or even jump at this point. I have been worried that I would never accomplish something that I have wanted since I was a little girl. Today my dream came true and you are looking at the newest member of the Gwynedd Mercy School of Nursing!!

You guys have been nothing but supportive, so I wanted to share this all with you! I hope you all are having a wonderful evening! :)

Much Love,
Kait

Live Free and Prosper

Since I do not have a job right now the last thing I should be doing was going to the movies..lol. But since I am such a movie buff I could not help myself.

I have seen 2 movies in the past 3 days, and only one of them was work seeing. The first one being Star Treck and the other being Obsessed.

Star Treck let me tell you was AMAZING. JJ Abrams did a SUPERB job at turning the old tv show into a movie. When I was little I was never a huge fan of the show, in fact I hated it. I know right..how can you hate Star Treck? Thats like saying that I hated Star Wars, which I love by the way. But it was so cool going and watching everything that I remembered about the show unfold. The special effects were really cool, and there were some parts that were hilarious.

I would definitely pay to go and see it again. That is how good it was, and I do not do that for many movies. My favorite line besides Spock's "Live Free and Prosper" would be the infamous "Beam us up Scotty!" I encourage everyone to go and see this movie, its still good even if you know nothing about the tv show. Chris Pine does an AMAZING job at playing Captain James Tiberius Kirk. Now Syler from Hero's (don't know his real name),Mr. Nick Grey's favorite person was great at playing Mr. Spock, before he became Mr. Spock..haha. He by far was my favorite before Captain Kirk of course. I am totally jealous at the cool hand thing they can do, I have tried over and over again but it just does not happen. My friend Rachel was cracking up.

Now as for the other movie..that did not go so well.

I love Beyonce I do, but she has got to pick better movies. The same goes for Ali Larter who also plays in Hero's. The plot of the movie was good, I will give it that but it was so slow paced. It felt like the movie last for 3 hours when it was only like and hour and a half. Although there were some parts that were really creepy. Certain scenes could have come out of real life situations. The one that stands out in my mind the most is where Beyonce and her Husband go out to dinner to celebrate his birthday. They leave their son with their usual babysitter, and the woman who has been stalking Beyonce's husband goes to the house pretends to be a friend of the family and goes us and takes the baby. Granted she didn't take him away from the house, but when they got home he was missing and was found in the husbands car. That is just too scary, and the funny the was that when the crazy woman pretended to call Beyonce and her husband and asked the babysitter is she wanted to talk to them she said no. Now if that had been me I would have say YES!! That was jsut a silly mistake on the babysitters part. The last ten minutes were the best part of the whole movie. Things finally got to moving along and getting to the point. This movie I would recommend renting and watching, but it is not worth spending ten bucks to go and see the movie in theater's.

Much love,
Kait

Sharing a Memory...

So in honor of Mother's Day, I would like to share with you one of my favorite memories that I have with my mom.

ok where to start...lol

It was during the summer that I became a freshman in high school. I had been talking to my mom about joining the Color guard of the band. For those of you who are not sure what the color guard is, we are the flags, rifles, and sabre's that are on the field in the colorful uniforms..lol.

This particular day was an important one because it was the first summer practice of the season. My mom had to work that day, but promised that she would be home in time to take me. Well, lets just say that things did not go according to plan for my mom at work that day.

Practice started a 5:30pm, and it was rolling on 5:15pm. Naturally I am at home pacing back and forth freaking out about being late to the first practice. I even started hyperventilating before my mom got home, because I had worked myself into such a tizzy.

See back then, and mostly today I don't like being late when first starting something new. Especially when I don't know anyone, I can be a very shy person when it comes to new people and places. My friends and family would tell you otherwise, but it is soo true.

Anyway...So its after 5:30pm when my mom finally gets home, and by that time I was like I am soo not going to this practice. Everyone is already going to be there and I am going to look like a total idiot walking in late. I'll just join next year. When I said this my mother looked at me and said " If you are constantly putting stuff off because you are afraid to try new things you will get no where in life. You are going to that practice." With that being said she proceeded to walk to the car dragging me with her in protest.

I have told my mother this a thousand times, but I am so glad and appreciative to her for dragging me to that practice. It turned out that I knew a lot of the girls that were there so it made going late not that much of a big deal, and I ended up being apart of the guard though all 4 years of high school. I truly believe that the times I had with the band and the guard were the best times of high school. There are so many inside jokes, that even now a junior in college still remember and laugh at. If it had not been for her I never would have met such wonderful people, and made great friends. I am so appreciative to her for that experience.

Sooo....

HAPPY MOTHER"S DAY to all of the wonderful mother's in the world :)

Mother's Day Poem

Usually I do a quote of the day,but since today is Mother's Day I decided to share a poem for all of the mother's out there. When I read this it seriously made me cry..lol. I am such a sap its ridiculous.

Mother...
You filled my days with rainbow lights,
Fairytales and sweet dream nights,
A kiss to wipe away my tears,
Gingerbread to ease my fears.
You gave the gift of life to me
And then in love, you set me free.
I thank you for your tender care,
For deep warm hugs and being there.
I hope that when you think of me
A part of you
You'll always see.

Happy Mother's Day!!

So in honor of Mother's Day, I would like to share with you one of my favorite memories that I have with my mom.

ok where to start...lol

Rainy Days

I love the rain don't get me wrong, but its on those days where you just feel like doing nothing ya know. I mean the sky is all dark and grey and the sun shine that usually makes you happy is perfectly hidden behind the clouds. Today was one of those days. All I wanted to do was go downstairs lay on my couch and either curl up with a good book or watch movies all day, while drinking tea.

Although my plans for the day had me doing other things... I had plans to meet my friends for breakfast this morning at 10 and it was just so hard to get out of bed...lol. when I woke up it was pouring rain, all I kept on doing was looking outside being its not 10 am already its still dark! Needless to say I got up and went to this little restaurant called Anna Marie's. Its one of the cutest places that you will ever visit. When I drive by there I will definitely have to take a picture and post it for you guys. The people there are so warm and welcoming. They always have smiles on your faces, and even during a rainy day its contagious.

Then I hung out with my madre and went to target. My brother needed to get some blank cd's. I was able to get my friend Katie/roommate her birthday cards. Im not sure what to get her, but I'll think of something..lol.

So even though I did not get to lay on the couch and watch movies or read a book, I think that I had a relatively good day, considering the weather..lol.

Then I had to come back to school unfortunately to finish my finals. I am so ready for school to be over and done with. Although I must say I am a little sad that this school years almost over. My roommate Katie is graduating this year, and its going to be so weird here with out her. Im so used to seeing everyday during the week, and occasionally during the summer. I know I know...Im acting like I'll never see her again, its just going to be a little outside the norm next year. Our suitmate kryssy is going to be my roommate next year and I think that we're going to have a good time next year. :)

I hope that you enjoyed my day..thought that I would update for you since I have been so busy lately preparing for finals. Hope you all had a good weekend :)
