PETA slams Mario Over Use of a Fur Suit

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals might be barking up the wrong mushroom.
On Monday, the controversial organization issued a press release attacking iconic Nintendo mascot Mario for wearing a 'Tanooki' suit in his latest adventure, the Nintendo 3DS game Super Mario 3D Land, which hit shelves on Sunday.
"Tanooki may be just a "suit" in Mario games, but by wearing the skin of an animal, Mario is sending the message that it's OK to wear fur," PETA says.
The raccoon-like suit, which grants Mario the ability to glide across the screen, has been a part of the franchise since first appearing as a power-up in 1988's Super Mario Bros. 3.  In the new game, Mario acquires the suit not by doing something lousy to a Tanooki, but by snagging a Super Leaf.
Still, PETA insists this encourages animal abuse.
"Tanukis are real-life raccoon dogs who are beaten and, as PETA's undercover exposés show, often skinned alive for their fur," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "This winter, everyone can give raccoon dogs and other fabulous animals a 1-UP by keeping our wardrobes fur-free."
To help prove their point, PETA has even commissioned a crude parody video game called "Super Tanooki Skin 2D" in which players try to re-capture their skin from a flying Mario (Warning: Kind of disturbing, and totally not fun.)
It's just the latest in a long line of PETA game complaints. In 2008 they went after Cooking Mama for not being a vegetarian, while just last year they parodied challenging downloadable platform hit Super Meat Boy for starring a piece of raw meat.
Nintendo has yet to comment, though we're pretty sure it will sound like a hand slapping a forehead.

@ThisIsLafferty (James Lafferty) of One Tree Hill tweeted this earlier and I just had to share. Boy is this CRAZY!!! Poor Mario! :(

Naley Final Day of Filming

In honor of tonight being the filming on the last Naley scene EVER! Here is one of my favorite quotes of Naley, said by none other than Brooke Davis:

I'm not the most eloquent speaker, so I thought I would borrow a few words from Shakespeare. 'Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds.' When life gets hard, when things change, true love remains the same. I look at Nathan and Haley and some how I feel safer. I don't know if I can explain that, but they give me hope. And, I'm afraid say it out loud because maybe if life finds out it'll try to beat it out of them and that will be a shame. Because, we all can use a little hope sometimes, you know. That feeling that everything's going to be okay and that there's going to be someone there to help make sure of that. So, here's to Nathan and Haley, and here's to hope, and here's to a love that will not alter.

Naley has shown me that True Love exists. Even though they are just fictional characters, they have given me hope that one day I will find the one person on this planet that makes my heart ache in a good way. Knowing that he feels the same way about me as I do about him.  They have shown me that its ok to wait until I find him, and that I deserve to find him!

A big thanks to the Cast & Crew of One Tree Hill. These 8 years have been a blast and have changed my life forever!

QOTD

So with this being the finale week of OTH filming EVER! I will be posting a QOTD and each quote will be from One Tree Hill and represent a lesson that has been taught because of it.

My best friend recently reminded me of a quote, by William Shakespeare, that seems appropriate. "There is a tide in the affairs of men, which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound up in sorrows and in miseries. On such a full sea, are we now afloat, and we must take the current when it serves or lose our ventures." I think that what that quote means is that life is short and, opportunities are rare, and we have to be vigilant in protecting them. And, not only the opportunities to succeed but, the opportunity to laugh, to see the enchantment in the world, and...to live, because life doesn't owe us anything. As a matter of fact, I think we owe something to the world. And, if we can just believe.. I'm sorry, I have more, I just, think I'm having my baby. - HJS (SO4E20)

Thank you to the #OTH Cast and Crew for 9 years of Pure Bliss!

The END is near for One Tree Hill

Today is a very historic and sad day in the world of One tree Hill fans! Today marks the 1st day of filming the SERIES FINALE *insert tears here*. I can not believe that after nine seasons and almost 10 years that this wonderful show is ending. I do not know what I am going to do once the last episode aires. Its going to be like loosing Harry Potter all over again, but like 10x's worse. I mean I have been watching this show since I was a sophomore in high school. I am now a senior in college to be graduating this year. I have gone and visited Wilmington, NC twice since the show started. I feel like I am apart of this show, so as sad or pathetic this may sound I feel like when this show ends I am going to be loosing a part of myself. One Tree Hill has weaved its way into my life so much and I just can not imagine my life without it. I know that all good things must come to an end, and I am very excited to see what comes next in the lives of all the stars of OTH and Mark Schwan. Thus ends my rant about One Tree Hill and I shall leave you all with one of my favorite quotes of the show that teaches a great life lesson....

"The important thing is not to be bitter over life's disappointments. Learn to let go of the past... and recognize that everyday won't be sunny. And when you find yourself lost in the darkness and despair... remember it's only in the black of night you can see the stars, and those stars will lead you back home. So don't be afraid to make mistakes, to stumble, to fall, cause most of the time the greatest rewards come from doing the things that scare you the most. Maybe you'll get everything you wish for... Maybe you'll get more than you ever could have imagined... Who knows where life will take you. The road is long and in the end... the journey is the destination  ~Whitey" (OTH episode 3:15)

James Blake

This guy is like my new obsession! I heard him sing a version of Joni Mitchel's song - A Case of You and I absolutely feel in love with him. I know its not music Monday, but you should definitely check him out on youtube!
