Review: Elite by Rachel Van Dyken

Hey everyone!

This is my first Rachel Van Dyken book and I could not be happier that I chose this series to start with. This book was full of all the things that we love!  Action, love, angst, and even a mob boss or two!

Title: Elite
Author: Rachel Van Dyken
Release Date: October 14, 2014

Synopsis

When I won the annual Eagle Elite College Scholarship lottery, I was thrilled. After all, my grandma had just died and I wanted to take care of my aging grandpa -- he couldn't be a farmer in Wyoming forever. And graduating from Eagle Elite meant opportunity.

But I wasn't counting on meeting Nixon.

Nor was I counting on the rules of the Elect.

1. Do not touch The Elect.

2. Do not look at The Elect.
3. Do not speak to The Elect.

And worst of all? Don't discover the secret they hide, because in the end, you may just realize... it's about you.

MY THOUGHTS

I honestly was intrigued the minute I started page 1. Your introduced to our MC Trace as she's driving with her grandfather to her college for the first time. She's very timid and shy most of the time, but she does have a bit of a fierny rebellious side. Which, of course comes out every time Nixon is around. This happens quite often, since she is rooming with his sister Monroe! Whom I love, she is such a great friend to Trace. She is put through the ringer at Eagle Elite and Monroe is always by her side trying to protect and help her in anyway. Since she is part of the "Elite" group. They are pretty niche the untouchables, the group in high school that everyone wants to be a part of, but knows that's never going to happen.

I enjoyed the whole concept of this story. The way everything played out. I did think that Trace cried way too much.  But then I look back after reading the whole story and realize she has been through quite a lot within the first couple months of school. I can't name anything without getting to spoilerish,  but believe me when I say she goes through quite a lot.

Not only that but she is also given a lot of information all at once, which would make a any normal person go crazy.  Trace is a much stronger person/character than she / I give her credit for while reading the story. It wasn't until I finished, and was reflecting on the story for this review that I truly understood how strong of a character she really is. He life is pretty much turner upside down in one night and she doesn't completely fall apart. Woah! That's what I have to say about that! Once you all read the book you shall understand.

The action and mystery within the story seriously kicks butt! Guns and some MMC fighting, ok maybe not really MMC fighting. But things do get a little messy!  Not to mention all of the hot guys, I'm not usually one to condone violence. But man do they make i5 seem sexy! They are also the type of guys you know do bad things. That if it were anyone else you would be thinking "how are  these guys getting away with all of this? " However, since their names are Nixon, Chase, Kudos to Rachel for writing such wonderful characters and putting together such a captivating story!

Overall, with this being my first mob book. I give this story a 4.5 out of 5. I would without a doubt recommend this story to my friends.
